Today's Tip for Building Character in Kids: Instilling Integrity

Instilling Integrity

Integrity is about understanding and practicing ethical behavior. It forms a moral compass that guides children.

While setting expectations is crucial, we must also allow children space to form their own moral identity. When they exhibit ethical behavior, acknowledge and praise it to affirm its value. Use "because" to clarify your praise: "You showed integrity because you didn't share the gossip." "Your integrity shone through when you kept your promise to your friend even though you missed the sleepover!"
